CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST – KLINIESE SIELKUNDIGE
My name is Leandri Beyers, I am a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. I have a passion for assisting individuals, couples, families and children. I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an independent psychologist. I am also an internationally certified hypnotherapist and a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists.
QUALIFICATIONS
I completed my undergraduate degree in BSoc Sci (cum laude) and BSoc Sci Honours degree at the University of Pretoria and my Master’s Degree in Sciences at the University of Limpopo. I then completed my internship at Dr. George Mukhari Hospital in Pretoria where I conducted psychotherapy and psychometric assessments with adults, children and hospitalised patients. I also worked in psychiatric contexts at both Dr. George Mukhari and Weskoppies Psychiatric State Hospital. With a special interest in child psychotherapy I completed my dissertation on “Towards Developing a Teddy Bear Therapy Training Programme for Psychotherapists”. I subsequently worked as a registered community clinical psychologist at Leratong Hospital and obtained a permanent position where I conducted psychological assessments of adults and children for diagnostic and management purposes as well as individual and group psychotherapy to children and adults.
Following my years in the health sector I decided to venture into one of my passions of working more exclusively with families and children. I was employed by the Department of Social Development to assist institutionalized children and their families with emotional and behavioral difficulties for two years whilst running a private practice after hours.
Subsequent to my formal education I underwent additional training in both sex therapy and hypnotherapy. My interest in child and family psychotherapy lead to the completion and publication of articles in two international journals.
I am currently in full time private practice where I assist individuals, couples and families presenting with a wide range of presenting problems.

APPROACH
Our relationships have a profound impact on our well-being. The way in which we deal with our environment and the response we get from people, contributes to our emotional health. I practice from this point of view, by using the Integrative Interactional Approach (Applied Systems Theory) which enables me to identify ineffective interactions which might maintain problems and psychological discomfort. As each person and problem is unique I use this approach as a meta-theory which enables me to adjust my therapeutic technique to suit each individual. This is an effective and empowering experience for my clients as we focus on practical skills to ensure overall change and relief. All services are available in Afrikaans and English.
